May 22 - Maderia

Six days at sea and we see our first sight of land.  WOW!!  It was incredible.  This is the first time we have had a room with a balcony and we enjoyed it very much!

Madeira Portugal is a refreshing island to visit.  It's located in a string of islands in the North Atlantic between Portugal and Africa.  In 1419 Portuguese Prince Henry the Navigator and his fleet set our on a voyage along the mysterious west coast of Africa and discovered this island - THANK YOU CORAM as we experience history that you brought into our lives.   www.coramdeoacademy.org

Madeira is a land mass formed from an underwater volcano and mountain range!  It's roads were very steep - and we had an incredible time.

We walked the streets of the city and took the cable car up the mountain.   From there we went on a Tobaggan ride down the narrow streets!  WOW - so much fun!!!!  Would highly recommend this to any one - it was priceless (and so much cheaper than doing it through Disney's adventure tour).    After that adventure we walked down the rest of the mountain (very very steep) and back to the ship.   We enjoyed and AWESOME Pirates IN the Caribbean Party with a surprise Mickey visit across the zip line!!  Fireworks were in abundance that night too!  What a spectacular way to pull out of the port!

This church was just beautiful but we were not able to go inside

This site was awesome to visit - right as we walked out of the port area.  It's an old 15th century home inside the cave.  Very cool!!

As the Cable Car ride began we enjoyed the breathe taking view of the sea
